In the Folds – Flynn Jacket

Garment details

The Flynn jacket is a loose-fitting jacket designed for woven fabrics. With two different styles, it is the perfect layering piece for autumn and winter.

Flynn features a wrap around collar, a high-low hem and in-seam pockets. All seams are finished with bias binding, for a beautiful and high-end finish. The Flynn jacket can be worn open, or closed discreetly with a hook and eye.

View A has a dropped shoulder and sleeve with a hem facing. It also features an inverted box-pleat in the back. The sleeves on View A are designed to be worn either straight or folded back, for a more casual look.

View B is sleeveless and features armhole facings and a flat back piece (no pleat). It has been designed to be worn over long sleeve tops and dresses. It works equally well worn over sleeveless tops and t-shirts. View B has a closer fit to View A, due to its sleeveless design and flat back piece.

SUGGESTED FABRICS

The Flynn jacket is compatible with bottom-weight fabrics such as: denim, cottons like canvas, duckcloth and drill, and heavyweight linens.

Fabric requirements and finished garment measurements can be found here.

At c. pauli GmbH, sustainable production and processing of organic cotton are given first priority. In this regard, it is a priority for us that no chemicals whatsoever be used to modify these robust and longlasting fibres.

The controlled organic farming is certified and generally rules out genetically modified seed. The advantages for the consumer lie above all in the use of natural fertilisers. In the production of organic cotton, it is strictly ensured that no types of toxic or non-biodegradable pesticides and fertilisers are used. Thus, the textiles are completely free of hazardous substances, which means that skin irritations due to allergies or overreactions can be prevented. Cotton produced through controlled organic farming is significantly softer and more breathable than traditional cotton. In addition, clothing made of organic cotton is of higher quality and longer lasting than clothing made of traditional cotton. The good washability also makes it a popular textile fibre and provides a pleasantly soft feel against the skin.

 The origin of our materials

We obtain our materials from Turkey, since we have found the best conditions and suitable partners for our production there.

In the Folds - photo 2.jpgIn the Folds came from a love of the creative making process, and the dream to share this experience with others. I now spend my time making thoughtful and detail-rich sewing patterns and resources for modern makers. Taking things slowly is in the foundations of my business, as I believe it’s important to take my time to create work that makers will love and cherish, and hopefully take their time with too. I aim to create patterns that makers can keep coming back to, season after season, regardless of changes in trends.

In 2015, when the idea of starting In the Folds was just a seedling, I saw an opportunity to create patterns that would help makers create beautiful and timeless garments. The patterns are not just a tool to get you to the end result (a finished garment), but a resource to support you to slow down and enjoy the process of making a beautiful and considered handmade wardrobe. It is my hope that by making your own clothes you can slow down, celebrate every stitch, learn something new and appreciate the amazing things you can do with your hands.

The In the Folds design aesthetic leans heavily towards the everyday. They’re pieces that will fit comfortably into your wardrobe, but will stand out with their interesting and refined details – timeless, yet modern – beautiful, yet understated. Finishes are thoughtful and considered – helping you to create garments that are beautiful both inside and out and teaching you the skills to make clothing that will last.
