viscose jersey

We love Viscose Jersey and it is becoming very popular in our shop. Viscose is a man made fabric comprised of natural fibres. The regenerated cellulose fibres are usually made from wool pulp and quite often from the woody parts of the cotton plant, the fibres are made using a wet-spin process. Viscose fabric is a part of the rayon family, all manufactured with cellulose (from bamboo, plant or tree pulps are collectively called rayon). Viscose is considered eco-friendly, as the primarily source is naturally regenerative. As Viscose is a mixture of man made and natural product it is known as semi-synthetic

Our plain colours are the best quality jersey with 10% lycra which makes the knit fabric heavier and gives it a fantastic drape.

It is easy to sew and there is no need to finish or overlock the seams as this will stretch the fabric too much. It is an interlock which means the edges don’t roll but stay flat which makes it great to work with. Make sure you stay-tape necklines, armholes and shoulders before sewing them together.

Viscose Jersey- Floral in Blue and Taupe

Our Viscose Rayon jersey is soft to the touch and drapes beautifully, it is lightweight and fantastic quality. Like other fabrics in the rayon family viscose is smooth, cool, very comfortable, and highly absorbent. Clothes made from viscose are skin-friendly and have the appearance of cotton or wool. Our Viscose knit jerseys are blended with elastane/ lycra stretch for comfortable wear. The elastane blend also helps to stabilise the fabric, making it easier to sew and flattering to wear. If you like low maintenance clothing then Viscose Jersey is perfect for you, you can machine wash this fabric at 30 degrees and it won’t need ironing as it is unlikely to crease. We wouldn’t recommend tumble drying this fabric as this can damage the fibres and shrink the fabric, simply spin and hang to dry.
